The Silver Caregivers’ Co-operative Limited (SCCL) launched the Inaugural Caregivers’ Celebration Dinner on 28 Oct 2015 at Orchard Road, with the theme of “Towards an inclusive Caring Society”. It was attended by Guest of Honor, Madam Halimah Yacob, the Speaker of Parliament, Keynote Speaker Mayor Low Yen Ling from South West CDC, and more than 400 guests who were SCCL’s members, friends, caregivers, fellow co-operators and members of the public.
The programme included a live band “D’Nightingale Frenz”, skit performance by graduates of the Gerontology Programme, lucky draw, health screening promotion, photo instant booth, booth display from our collaborators, i.e. Medifast and AIC, and the Extraordinaire Caregivers Award.
During the event, we proudly presented the Extraordinaire Caregivers Award, an annual award which honours individuals for their strength, courage, and resilience in the face of caregiving challenges. The winners of the awards were Mrs Emalin Rom, Madam Jothy Thamboo and Madam Sulastri Shafi’ee, who have provided an exceptional level of dedication to their beneficiaries. Through this award, SCCL hopes to celebrate the commitment and efforts of the caregivers for their unconditional love and care to their beneficiaries. In addition, SCCL hopes to inspire other caregivers and families, and to let them know that they are not alone in their journey.
“You Are Not Alone” a booklet published by SCCL, was given away as the door gift (See photo below). It comprises 12 unique and inspiring caregiving stories which we would like to share with other caregivers or caregivers-to-be. The objective was to raise the awareness of the social contributions of caregivers like you, and to give psycho-social and emotional support to caregivers who might feel alone and unappreciated in their caregiving journeys.
It was a happening and joyous occasion. We’re glad to share with you more photos, click here to see more photos.
