Introduction
Silver Caregivers Co-operative Limited (SCCL) is a social enterprise that was set up in July 2013. It envisions to better the quality of life of caregivers through Workshops, Courses, Talks, as well as to become a one-stop centre of information to better support their important roles as caregivers to their loved ones. SCCL is currently the leading Psycho-Social Course Provider for caregivers in Singapore. SCCL is registered under the Singapore National Co-operative Societies Act.
The Task of Caregiving
Research has found that caregivers tend to neglect their own health care appointments and eat poor-quality diet among caregivers who provide assistance with basic activities of daily living (ADLs). This has bearing on their health status in the long term.
Caregivers are also at high risk of fatigue and may lose their motivation to care for their loved ones due to the demands of their caregiving roles.
SCCL’s Cause for the Caregivers
SCCL champions the cause of caregivers, especially the sandwiched group (refers to caregivers who are not within the bottom 5% of the economic ladder), by empowering them with relevant holistic skill sets.
Through collaboration with various organizations, it hopes to provide a series of workshops, seminars and public forums to support and prepare them socially and mentally to be effective caregivers.
Social Mission
SCCL aims to enlighten the larger society to be aware of the social and emotional challenges of caregivers, and their important social contribution.
Our tagline, “Caring for Caregivers”, envisions a caring society served by well-informed and well-prepared caregivers.
Vision
SCCL collaborates with various organisations to see meaningful change in the support and skills training of caregivers.
